About this course
Many yoga teachers are not equipped with the knowledge to confidently and appropriately modify their class content to accommodate menstruating students. This course aims to fill this lack.
In this comprehensive course taught by Ana Davis, veteran women’s yoga expert and author of Moving with the Moon: Yoga, Movement & Meditation for Every Phase of your Menstrual Cycle & Beyond you will learn:
- what is happening physiologically & emotionally for a woman/ menstruating person during the menses, as well as foundational understanding of Ana’s Moving with the Moon® methodology and philosophy;
- the guidelines for safe, appropriate practice during menstruation;
- how to best support a menstruating student in your general class so that they feel safe and have the best possible experience in your class;
- how to communicate sensitively to best support students at this time in their cycle and to foster an open, ‘menstrual-friendly’ environment in your general classes.
Over the last two decades Ana has been invited to deliver this course-content as guest teacher to many of Australia’s top yoga teacher training courses. Now, this information is available as an online CPD course for the first time.
This type of information is rarely covered in yoga teacher trainings and many yoga teachers have little awareness of the subtle needs of the body at this time in one’s cycle.
This course will educate yoga teachers of all disciplines and genders about the experiences menstruating students might be facing, both physically and emotionally. The lectures and physical practices in this course will equip you with tools to allow your students space and rest during this time and also help normalise the awareness of menstruation within your classes.
The course features an engaging mix of video and written content that is practical and informative and will help you feel confidant in looking after those on their “dark moon” in your classes regardless of the style of yoga you teach.
- Important note: This course is not a replacement for Fertility Yoga Teacher Training or Women’s Yoga teacher training. If you plan to run Yoga for Fertility classes please refer to our specific Yoga for Fertility Teacher Training Courses.

Members of both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia (and many other governing yoga bodies world wide) are required to complete ongoing professional development to keep their membership current. By completing our Bliss Baby Yoga CPD Modules, teachers are able to accrue some of these necessary professional development hours as well as enhance their knowledge and skills in this specialised area of women’s health.
(The following information re: Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance requirements for CPD was true at the time of publishing – please check the Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance websites via links below to confirm their requirements).
For Yoga Alliance members, according to their Continuing Education Requirements, every 3 years starting from your initial date of registration, each RYT and E-RYT must complete and log a minimum of:
- 45 hours teaching yoga, and
- 30 hours of yoga related training that is directly related to one of the Educational Categories, of which:
- At least 10 training hours must be Contact Hours.
- No more than 20 training hours may be Non-Contact Hours.
This course can therefore cover 2 of the 20 non-contact hours of study and contribute to these CPD requirements. Enrolment in our other CPD courses can similarly add to these requirements.
For Yoga Australia members, 12 CPD points (Continuing Professional Development) must be accrued each year to keep your membership active. These can be accrued through contact or non-contact hours of study. Our Incorporating a Pregnant Student in your Yoga Class Course is counted as non-contact study core to yoga teaching (2 points per hour as per Yoga Australia Guidelines). This CPD Module is 3 hours, so Yoga Australia members will accrue 6 CPD points.
PLEASE NOTE This course is not alone designed to qualify graduates to teach specific Fertility Yoga or Women’s Yoga classes to the public – please complete our Yoga for Fertility Teacher Training to dive deeper into yoga to support women’s cycles.

- Is this course for women only? Definitely not! All yoga teachers need to know how to modify their class for menstruating students including male, transgender or non-binary teachers.
- Will I be able to offer dedicated Women’s Yoga or Fertility Yoga classes with this course? No, you will need to do either our Fertility Yoga Teacher Training Course or keep an eye out for more women’s yoga offerings from Bliss Baby Yoga in 2024.
Who is this course for?
This course is for yoga teachers of any discipline and any gender who would like to feel confidant supporting someone who is menstruating within your yoga class.
Whether you are a teacher of Vinyasa, Iyengar, Power Yoga, Yin, Synergy, Restorative, Hatha, Kundalini, Bikram, Ashtanga or more, even a Pilates teacher, you will gain confidence and knowledge from this course.
You may not have considered students at this time in their cycle as needing a different practice, especially if you are someone who doesn’t menstruate, so this may be your opportunity to begin your learning in this area. You may have wanted to increase awareness around menstruation in your classes but not known where to begin – you will learn how in this course.
You may be an experienced yoga practitioner who wants to know how to adapt her own practice to her cycle.
This course may also be for any yoga teacher who has considered teaching Fertility or Women’s Yoga and would like to have a feel into the teaching before committing to our full Fertility Yoga Teacher Training.
This course is for you.
